After college I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia.  Here is a photo (that I grabbed from the internet) of the hike point (as in hitchhike) for Engela, where I lived and taught during my first year.  People wait in the shade of the tree on the right for cars to come along.  Sometimes you wait five minutes, sometimes you wait three hours...

After college I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Namibia.  This is Hafeni, my "homestay brother" in Engela. Hafeni means "Happiness" in Oshikwanyama, which is also the name I was given by the language instructors during the initial Peace Corps training.
