I've been thinking about the website and how to make it simpler, easier to navigate, etc. I sent a couple of alumni these three websites and asked them to compare:
lastly, (and this is a roll-your-eyes-at-dave-molina moment), is that re-imagining the MTC site should begin with some thorough consideration about the types of users, the types of information, and the most immediate and informative way to connect the both. the amount that managerial/organizational stuff clogs the current site may warrant a separate intranet-like interface from which the teacher-create content can be pulled in an rss-like way. if you cut down the more public mtc site to simply doing promotion/information, with a very visible "apply now" portal that brings applicants within the intranet... something like that?
I agree with this. The tension is that the website is either not informative enough (as Laura Manion said, she viewed every single page and wanted more on the old site) or too much (what I think the site clearly is now). Furthermore, given extreme limitations of money and time, and with significant portions of the website offloaded onto other sites (YouTube, Smugmug, the two wikis, the blogs), what should our goal be?
